Tara river rafting

The Tara River – “The Tear of Europe”, is certainly one of the most beautiful, clean and exciting rivers in the world. Its canyon, which is over 150 kilometers long and at some places over 1300 meters deep, is second only to the Colorado Grand Canyon in depth and is the deepest river canyon in Europe. After 146 kilometers of flow from its spring at Komovo it meets the river Piva at the Bosnia and Herzegovina -Montenegro border between the villages of ScepanPolje (Montenegro) and Hum (Bosnia and Herzegovina) toform the Drina River. Because of its crystal clear waterit is rich in endemic plants and animals. The Tara River is under UNESCO protection as a World Heritage Site. According to the International Scale of River Classes for rafting, the Tara is graded Class 3-4. The scale puts the Tara River at the top of its list of the most exciting rivers in the world along with the Colorado and Zambezi Rivers. Rafting on the Tara is a real adventure and a great part of the vacation experience; it is unforgettable for every visitor and a tribute to nature itself.

Unlike the Tara, the Drina is a calmer river. In the spring months, however, when the water levels are higher, this river can also be very rapid. A great journey is the length from Scepanpolje, where the Drina River begins, to our camp (in total25 km). A trip down the Drina River is full of fascinating sites (forests, geological and even historical sites, animals & natural-crystal clear pools within the river itself) far away from society. Rafting on the Tara and Drina is done in inflatable rubber boats specially designed for white waters. Boats have the capacity of 10 – 12 persons. For our guests, Auto Camp” Drina” provides all necessary rafting equipment: the boat, wet suits and boots, life jackets, whitewater helmets and paddles (and in the case of rain – rain coats). Besides rafting we also offer smaller trips in rubber canoes (2-4 persons). The Skipper has a leading role in rafting and also serves the function of tour guide. Our Skippers have had professional training and experience and have been licensed by the IRF (International Rafting Federation). Before the adventure starts, skippers give a short instruction about rafting& safety – and then the adventure begins. Keep in mind however that everybody has a role to play here – rafting is a team sport. During rafting, our guests can bring cameras which are kept in special waterproof bags or boxes. Breaks are made at the most scenic places in order to take photos and for refreshments. Domestic guests are obliged to have ID card or passport, while foreign guests are required to have their passport for some of our trips as border crossing will be necessary (between Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro – these are obviously kept safe in waterproof containers). We guarantee your satisfaction and offer an inclusive dinner to any rafting or canoeing trip, this is truly an adventure that must be experienced!
